The Adventure Begins

Hello! My name is Erika Burg and I am AXIS Dance Company’s new summer intern.

Between college graduation this past Saturday, packing up and moving back to the glorious Bay Area Sunday, and beginning this amazing internship on Monday my head in spinning…and I couldn’t be happier!

As a recent graduate from Humboldt State University as a Recreation Administration major and Dance minor it feels great to be back in the Bay Area where I am originally from. I have missed being in a big city with such a large and thriving arts community and I forgot just how much there is to see and do here!

This internship with AXIS almost seems too good to be true in the way it incorporates my wide variety of interests. AXIS is such a dynamic and multi-faceted Company that brings so much inspiration an innovation to the dance world and I am so glad to be a part of it this summer. I get to be surrounded by other dance fanatics while supporting such a strong mission. I am grateful to be interning where my love of dance and interests in arts administration, education, and community involvement can all be supported.

Although this is only my third day with AXIS I have already learned and absorbed so much! I am looking forward to getting to know the inspiring AXIS Dance Company team and getting insight into all the behind the scenes work that goes into AXIS. I also can’t wait for the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in July as well as the AXIS’ summer dance intensive in August!

This is definitely going to be an exciting summer and I will be checking in throughout the journey.
