A Brief Visit from Corina Dalzell

We recently had the pleasure of having Corina with us for a short month-long internship. If you didn’t get the chance to ‘meet’ her through our E-News here’s your chance.  And perhaps you’d be interested in interning with AXIS

Intern Profile – Corina Dalzell

Currently I study at Bennington College in the Southwest corner of Vermont. My “major” really is a plan of study that I designed myself. I refer to it broadly as Dance and Collaborative Studies. Through my coursework, I am investigating community building through the arts with particular attention towards how art affects relationships and cultivates the cooperation skills necessary for civic collaboration.

I am so fortunate to get the opportunity to apply my studies and work with organizations putting these principles in action every winter during Field Work Term. This seven week internship period takes place between the fall and spring semesters at Bennington. Everyone leaves VT for the worst of the snow to gain 210 hours of work experience.

This is my first trip to California, and this beautiful place is just as rich and exciting as I dreamed! Goodness gracious AXIS is swell! I am delighted to spend time getting to know the fantastic, friendly, and welcoming people that make up such an inspiring organization! I will be eternally grateful for the attention and care given to me as an intern. This learning experience will certainly be a formative one! It is an honor to get such a close look at how one small office of extraordinary women reaches so many in such deeply meaningful ways.

When I am not at AXIS, I am interning with kids at Destiny Arts Center in their performing arts and violence prevention program or working with CoachArt helping to organize art and athletic mentors for chronically ill children and their siblings. Needless to say, it has been a beautiful trip. I hope to return!
