Summer is almost over and I am very much looking forward to the fall. Not only will I have the crazy awesome opportunity to work with AXIS, but also I get to be back in the bay where art is appreciated and there are myriad outlets for dance! (I’ve been back home, in a more or less rural town, all summer.)
I am very grateful that I did have the opportunity to go to New York for two weeks in August to partake in a Gaga intensive hosted by Peridance. I learned a lot about myself as a mover and got to work with some extremely knowledgeable teachers and dancers, including current members of the Batsheva Dance Company (the company’s artistic director Ohad Naharin developed the Gaga movement language- check it out). Now I can’t wait to apply everything I learned there in classes here in the bay area.
My internship with AXIS will be my first taste of the administrative side of dance and physically integrated movement. I am thrilled to be part of such an amazing team and eager to see what this endeavor has in store for me.
